Summary

Spartan Controls is currently recruiting for a Fort McMurray based Account Manager to support key Oil Sand’s Producers. The successful candidate will need to bring industry experience and an understanding of the Oil Sands Mining and Upgrading Industry, their operations and the unique challenges they face. You will demonstrate the ability to leverage your team and apply Spartans broad portfolio of automation products/solutions, while delivering exceptional service and tangible results. You will develop plans in alignment with Customer’s Initiatives, and create strategic solutions for our Customers. Success in this position means Customer validation of automation support and delivering value, leading by example, as an active team player who acquires, maintains and strengthens business relationships and is accountable for achieving business objectives.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Focus on providing value and support that meet and exceed Customer expectations
  • Experience in the Oil Sands Mining and Upgrading industries would be considered an asset
  • Effectively engage with all levels of our sophisticated Customers’ organization. (Projects, Maintenance, Engineering and Operations)
  • Effectively use planning tools like SAP and Customer Relationship Management software
  • Understand and communicate Customer needs and business strategy/initiatives to ensure Spartan's continued leadership in developing and delivering innovative automation solutions
  • Develop account leadership through effective strategic account planning and development
  • Build and maintain strong mutually beneficial enduring relationships
  • Lead a focused Spartan account team, delivering increased Customer loyalty

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong ‘Customer First’ focus
  • B.Sc. in Engineering or graduate from an accredited Technological Institute preferred
  • Deep understanding of the Oil Sands Mining and Upgrading Industries is preferred and considered an asset
  • Creative thinker, with the courage to take appropriate risk and a willingness to innovate
  • Ability to keep up with the evolving automation landscape, (data management, networking, IIOT, Advanced control, etc.)
  • Project or Turnaround Planning and execution experience would be an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years sales/sales management experience
  • Experience with consultative front-line sales activities necessary to maintain and grow business
  • Broad understanding of instrumentation and process control automation
  • Lifelong learner with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly effective at building long term relationships
  • Experience in negotiating win-win contracts, and making presentations
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
