Job Description

Nesters Market has an opening for a Bakery Clerk at our location in West Kelowna, BC. This role is full-Time and reports to the Store Manager.

Clerks are responsible for providing fast and friendly service to customers in our busy grocery store.

Job duties and responsibilities:

• Provide superior customer service to all guests
• Efficiently stock and display product in a neat and appealing manner
• Ensure a clean and sanitary environment
• Assist guests with product recommendations and locations, requests, and special orders
• Deal with customer concerns and/or complaints
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers
• Assist in receiving, unloading and stocking of merchandise
• Merchandise, price, label and stock all bakery products
• Ensure accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing
• Willingness to cross train and work in the Deli department and possibly others: Meat, Produce, Cashier, Customer Service
• To perform other duties and tasks assigned, as consistent with the nature and scope of the position

Skills and qualifications:

• At least one year of retail or customer service experience
• Prior bakery knowledge/experience is an asset
• Minimum high school diploma
• Food safety certification preferred
• Above average interpersonal and communication skills
• Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers
• Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner
• Work well independently or in a collaborative team environment
• Willingness and availability to work varied shifts including early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays if necessary
• Physical ability to stand, lift, and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Proven track record as a self-starter; dedicated and goal orientated
• Ability to follow established company policies
• Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written
