Our CLIENT is currently seeking a Civil Engineer to work in its Kitchener office. The successful candidate will report to the Civil Division Manager and work on activities related to land development and municipal projects, included, but not limited to the design of stormwater management quality and quantity controls, storm sewer design including Best Management Practices (BMP) and Low Impact Development (LID), sanitary sewer design, water distribution for civil engineering projects including subdivisions, site developments, and municipal road reconstruction projects.

It has offices in London and Kitchener, providing engineering services to a variety of private and public sector clients across Southwestern Ontario. The firm employs over 100 engineers, engineers-in-training, technologists, technicians, planners, and administrative personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Civil Engineering Design and Documents for land development and municipal projects such as subdivisions, site plans, road reconstructions, parking lot replacements, etc.
  • Design of civil infrastructure including site servicing, grading, stormwater management, water mains, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, noise studies, drainage, erosion control and stormwater management systems etc.
  • Review designs and drawings to ensure accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to current standards
  • When required, coordinate/review/assist field staff with site investigations, general reviews of construction, and preparation of field review reports
  • Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion
  • Cost estimates and cost comparison of technical solutions
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Civil Division Manager and Project Leads

Skills / Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario required or to be acquired within 6 months.
  • 4+ years of experience in Civil Engineering, with a focus on consulting/design considered an asset.
  • Experience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code, other applicable Canadian Engineering standards, and applicable legislature such as the Planning Act.
  • Sound understanding of water and environmental related principles and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology
  • Relevant experience with stormwater management design and flow modelling software (MIDUSS, EPA SWM, PCSWMM, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, etc.) considered an asset
  • Experience with BMP and LID techniques and implementation considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suites. Preference will be given to candidates with Civil3D experience
  • Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities to motivate all levels of staff

  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple technical projects and work in a fast-paced environment

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and annual performance bonus. The successful candidate will typically work 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-2:30pm on Fridays.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $65,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
