The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment, where tomorrow’s physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,200 staff.

Responsibilities


Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strengthens the scientific and clinical community, and are integral for research and academic innovation and excellence. Working closely with the Associate Dean, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the EDI Coordinator will support the effective implementation EDI principles and strategies for the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. The role will provide administrative support for EDI related projects and initiatives within the Faculty, and will be the first point of contact for faculty, staff and student groups seeking resources to support departmental EDI initiatives.

Qualifications


Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in social science, health sciences or a related discipline
Experience:
  • 2 years’ experience with project management and administrative coordination
  • Experience in a research or healthcare environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated commitment to, passion for, and knowledge of EDI principles and best practices
  • Working knowledge of key EDI related concepts, issues and trends
  • Knowledge of project management tools and resources
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups at all levels within the organization and external parties, exercising appropriate judgement
  • Creative and proactive self-starter who possesses a high attention to detail, strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Expertise and ability to coordinate and support committees and working groups
  • Comfortable with working independently, as well as collaborating with teams
  • Project coordination skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve objectives
  • Verbal communication skills to translate information into easily understood terms, summarize information, and provide a rationale for action
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Critical thinking skills to analyze problems, and collect information required to make an accurate conclusion
  • Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Ability to display a blend of diplomacy and persistency to achieve goals while working collaboratively
