Alberta Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide in Continuing Care at the Drayton Valley Hospital. In this position as a member of the nursing team you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for 50 Continuing Care residents that focuses on the delivery of excellent patient and family centered care. As a Health Care Aide you are responsible for providing direct client care to the elderly population including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias, in a manner that demonstrates principles of choice, respect, dignity, privacy, individuality and independence. Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. The town has a population of over 7,000. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and a ski hill. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
