Our growing law firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal that has experience with both litigation and corporate / commercial file support. This is a position for someone looking to establish a career working in a law office – if work is merely a means to a paycheck for you, then read no further.

Our Ideal Candidate

Although we will be hiring a person that we believe possesses the skill and mindset that fits well with our firm's core values, we have some minimum requirements for you to be considered.

  • A minimum five years of relevant, quality work experience as a litigation legal assistant. Familiarity with all aspects of a litigation file from pleadings to trial, and post judgment collections.
  • A minimum five years of relevant, quality work experience as a corporate / commercial paralegal. You hold CORES accreditation plus have experience with unanimous shareholders agreements, share purchases and asset purchases.

You also need to be a proficient writer - your success in this position requires you to be able to write letters and prepare documents without making spelling or grammatical errors. We want someone positive and outgoing - you should expect to be interacting with clients in this role. The way you interact with clients has a direct impact on how much they enjoy working with our firm and members of our team need to enjoy and be comfortable with interacting with clients.

Responsibilities

This position requires flexibility in handling day-to-day tasks as they arise. You should expect to be asked to:

  • Prepare and assemble Affidavits of Records, Factums and Briefs;
  • Complete first drafts of Applications and supporting Affidavits;
  • Prepare draft reporting letters to clients;
  • Develop and implement organized filing systems; and
  • Maintain and monitor a diary system.
  • Preparing corporate resolutions;
  • Filing annual returns;
  • Incorporating companies;
  • Assisting with corporate mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
  • No weekends
