TELUS is proud to support local communities and content creators through the stories we tell and content we create. Through the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) funding, the TELUS Local Content team provides production grants, training, live streaming and distribution opportunities to diverse filmmakers and content creators in BC and Alberta.


We distribute these stories to over one million TELUS Optik TV customers as well as to audiences online. We are focused on empowering underrepresented organizations, communities and individuals, empowering them to tell their stories through our TELUS originals, TELUS STORYHIVE and Community Content programs.


What you’ll do:


You’ll support a team of 3 to 4 individual contributors and support digital deliveries of all Local Content productions, develop and implement Content Merchandising strategy, including the Ad Avail strategy, for the Optik TV, Stream+ and various online platforms. Additionally, you will support the evolution of our digital footprint for both the TELUS STORYHIVE and TELUS originals content brands.


As the Manager, Products & Services you’ll focus on the strategic direction and operations of our content ingest/deliveries for the Local Content portfolio. You’ll work closely with the Director of Local Content, Digital Product Manager, Content Deliveries Senior Manager and Project Coordinator as well as internal and external stakeholders, where you will design, evolve, facilitate and launch new digital processes to support the delivery/ingest of all Local Content funded productions annually for TELUS originals, STORYHIVE and Community Content creators. You’ll also lead our Local Content merchandising strategies to increase viewership on TELUS Optik TV and online platforms. Finally, you’ll be responsible for the evolution of the Local Content’s digital ecosystems (STORYHIVE.com and telus.com/telusoriginals).

Specifically you’ll:


Content Delivery and Ingest:


  • Oversee content delivery and ingest operations, including workflows, timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, both within TELUS and with external partners
  • Drive process improvement and innovation to ensure high-quality and efficient content delivery for the TELUS Local Content team and the broader organization of TELUS

Content Merchandising:


  • Lead local content merchandising strategy to improve user experience and increase high-value content visibility for increased conversions and customer loyalty
  • Develop and implement differentiated strategy and tactics for merchandising 19 Local Content Community Showcase Channels and Local Content Storefront
  • Collaborate with Content Management and Merchandising teams for day-to-day content management requirements
  • Manage creation of Ad Avails and Trailers for STORYHIVE and TELUS original titles

Digital Design:


  • Lead the strategy for all digital products for both STORYHIVE and TELUS originals with a focus on automation and customer experience
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to explore innovative solutions to align with project goals and meet user needs

Other duties:


  • Management of Local Content annual scorecard and quarterly reporting
  • Maintaining monthly reporting dashboards with the ability to pull data insights for Local Content programming

  • Noted for your work with content management systems such as AMS, AWS, Aspera and Signiant
  • With a passion for bringing people together, and background in working with a variety of teams, both internally and with external vendors such as encoding houses, digital design agencies, web services and online platforms
  • Researching and analyzing the latest digital trends, identifying new opportunities for growth, and collaborating with other departments to ensure a cohesive digital marketing strategy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to find innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Recognized for your strong all-round communication expertise (including experience communicating directly with senior leadership), with a keen ability to form and sell ideas and influence outcomes
  • Commitment to supporting storytellers and stories from traditionally underrepresented communities including BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, persons with disabilities, women and new Canadians
  • Deeply passionate about equity, diversity and inclusion, and open to incorporating inclusive best practices into work every day
  • You are able to travel to Vancouver, B.C. from time to time for in-person team meetings and events, as well as occasionally travel to events across Canada, including on evenings and weekends

Great to have:


  • 5+ years of experience in content management systems, digital marketing and digital architecture design
  • 5+ Film Production and editing experience in the TV and Film Industry
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Digital Media, Marketing, Film & Television)
