ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:


Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Project Management Office - the Business Analyst/Product Owner will leverage business process and system knowledge to affect analysis, design, development and delivery of project and other Information Services activities and initiatives through successful management of competing priorities and resource constraints.

You will work alongside other Business Analysts, Product Owners, Project Managers, IS Managers and System Developers to perform detailed requirements gathering, documentation and acceptance testing including Release Management. Ensure Backlog and Project activities completed against planned completion date.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume Subject Matter Experts knowledge for the Ecosystem assigned as Product Owner/Business Analyst
  • Responsible for maximizing the value of product (Ecosystem) resulting from work of development team. Establish and maintain product (Ecosystem) backlog to better achieve Business strategic goals and objectives based on Business stakeholders’ prioritization and needs. Ensuring backlog is visible to all. Establish start and completion dates for each initiative while providing monitoring, controlling and progress update to Project/initiative sponsor, stakeholders, and management.
  • Determine initiative delivery approach with support from Project Director and IS VP where applicable.
  • Secure project team members and assign tasks to team members, oversee resourcing on product development team.
  • Participate in project management activities (e.g., Scrums) and apply project management methodology where applicable (e.g. High level scope/requirements in Project Charter, BRD – Business Requirements documentation, Requirements Traceability documentation, Test planning and test cases) and obtain signoff.
  • Lead various stakeholders on requirements (functional and non-functional) gathering and refinement, including detailed requirements solicitation and documentation. Responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the business to conduct business analysis and solutions to meet business objectives (this could include technical solutions, business processes, data etc)
  • Perform business analysis of functional and non-functional requirements to identify information (database content, structure, application subsystems, procedures, process, and current and future process maps)
  • Articulate solution ideas but also balance them against what’s technologically feasible and functionally reasonable. Maintain a proactive relation with internal and external stakeholders, engage with business leaders and users to understand how data-driven changes to process, products, services, software, and hardware can improve efficiencies and add value.
  • Conduct cost and risk analysis – minimize customizations while maximizing use of existing functionality in meeting business requirements.
  • Identify and describe product features to build a shared understanding of the problem and solution with the product development team.
  • Provide clarification to development and QA team on product features.
  • Establish test entrance and exit criteria for QA and UAT testing with support from Developers and QA
  • Move functionality and deliverables between releases as required.
  • Provide leadership, training and coaching as required.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY USED:

  • Microsoft Office, Jira, GitHub, SQL.

CREDENTIALS:

Must Have

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 Years or more experience as Business Analyst, preferably in Telecommunications or Information Systems.
  • Experience owning an IS ecosystem and was responsible for releasing different features based on different stakeholders business requirements.
  • Have you provided production support to the ecosystem working with internal IS development team
  • Proven analytical abilities.

Nice to Have

  • Ideally a CBAP or CCBA or IIBA certification.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to fluently read, write and communicate verbally in English.
  • French an asset.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience with Iterative Waterfall and/or Agile Software Development methodologies.
  • Highly organized with exceptional time management skills.
  • Good meeting leadership/facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven communication skills – very good writing skills for functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, test cases and process.
  • Proficient in diagramming and business process development.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights.
