Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Education, the Education Coordinator provides support to the Postgraduate Medical Education Director & Wightman-Berris Academy Director, works with academic partners, internal staff and program leadership, and provides exceptional customer service to learners coming to UHN for clinical placements. The role will allow you use and develop a strong knowledge of the four UHN hospitals, the resources and supports available to learners, knowledge of current trends in healthcare and education, and effective communication to all internal and external parties.

Duties

  • Managing the submission of the Medical Trainee Data to the Ministry of Health;
  • Providing administrative support in the department including assistance with functions related to Clinical Fellows, Medical Residents, and Medical Students at multiple sites;
  • Maintaining pager and travel reimbursement documentation;
  • Coordinating day to day operations in the department.
  • Arranging meetings, minute taking, and database maintenance including maintaining electronic calendar and schedules; and representation of committees related the portfolio.
  • This position may involve working on special projects, innovative education support initiatives and other medical education duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum college diploma or university degree (preferred) with relevant work experience
  • Minimum 3 year’s experience working within a healthcare or education setting; hospital experience, preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills and works well in a team setting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exemplary customer service, planning, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks;
  • Strong computer skills, required; including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards;
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, while being adaptable and flexible;
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations;
  • Ability to effectively handle confidential matters and materials;
  • Demonstrated commitment to value diversity and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, an asset;
  • Strong preference will be given to applicants with Medical Education experience.
